International Flight with 2 different Airlines?
Hello, I am in the process of planning a backpacking trip to Europe next year for 5 months. I am looking at flights and the cheapest option is a direct flight on Air Canada to Paris (CDG), and return is a connecting flight in Madrid from Paris with Air France, and on to Toronto with Air Canada. I was wondering how it would work for me to check in, in Madrid. Would I have to collect my luggage in Madrid, then proceed to check in with Air Canada? Or is there another option for my baggage?
Some airlines do have baggage agreements with other airlines so they will take care of the baggage transfer for you and some do not. You may want to call Air Canada to find out. Another option for baggage I’ve seen other people do is ship them but it can get pricey.
