Car Trip Round Europe .. Question.?
I’m an Arabian student studying in the UK, my friends and I are thinking of ending our long school life in a special way. Being the car enthusiasts that we are, we thought of taking a flight to Germany, then buy a car from there and drive it home, Kuwait. The last five stations are probably going to be (descending from Europe) Turkey, Syria, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, then Kuwait.
We’re thinking; Germany–> Switzerland–> Austria–> Italy–> Greece–> bla bla
1- What is the cheapest way to get the car (and us, obviously) over the sea from Italy to Greece?
2- From Germany to Greece, will we be able to just drive through the countries or are we going to be stripped out with taxes and customs and all sorts of boring paper work stuff that we have to do to get the car across the borders ?
Apologies for my lengthy enquiry, and my poor English that’s making it even worse and TIA …

You shouldn’t have any particular trouble driving from country to country, but you do need to be aware that you need to pay a tax to drive on the autobahn in Austria and Switzerland. http://www.german-way.com/autobahn2.html In Austria, you get a sticker to display on your windshield at border crossings, gas stations in Austria, as well as Tabak shops in Austrian towns.
You also need an International Driving Permit that translates your home driver’s license into multiple languages.
Keep the headlights on in Austria.
