Cheapest way to get from either Bangkok OR mumbai to Sri Lanka (and back)?
Hi, I’m getting a round the world flight and want to fly from Australia back to the UK going via Sri-Lanka. There aren’t any flights so I need to get an additional flight in order to get to this country. I think the closest places (on the round the world trip route) are Bangkok and Mumbai – just wondered if anyone knew the cheapest way of getting to Sri-Lanka and back from either of these two places?
obviously prices vary on time of year as well as length of stay, and which airports in Aus and the UK you are using, but i found that its almost $1000 cheaper to fly to Colombo, Sri Lanka from Mumbai than it is from Bangkok (this is, if you are buying a multi-city ticket from Aus to UK with round-trip flights to and from those cities en route to your final destination). However, if you get the tickets to/from Colombo independently than the rest of your trip, its $100 cheaper to fly from Bangkok than Mumbai.
