Cheapest/easiest way to travel from Adelaide to Newcastle?
I need to know the cheapest and easiest way to travel from Adelaide, SA to Newcastle, NSW. I know the easiest way would be by plane, but the tickets are costly and there are no direct flights. I would have to go through Sydney first, which makes it even more expensive.
Can anyone help out?
You can take the commuter train to Sydney and fly from Sydney. The flights cut across the middle of the country so can be fast and cheap.
There used to be direct long distances buses all the way from Brisbane to Perth which would follow the coast line. These buses probably still exist, or perhaps these days you have to bus hop. It take perhaps 2 days by bus to get to Adelaide.
Most people who use buses are going to regional areas or are travellers who get on or off the buses at different places.
There are trains as well. There is one from Sydney to perth that stops in adelaide. It is slow and sleeper berts are expensive and seats are difficult to sleep in.
I would go train or bus because of the environmental impact.
You can also hitchhike or try a website like couchsurfing.com to find a share ride.
